Van Project:

Tranquility, Electric Yacht Sailboat, Provincetown Harbour

My last project was simply to build a sailboat that used electric propulsion and charged it’s battery bank off a wind generator. It was simple and it worked.

Back in 2005 I helped a small independent owned electric propulsion business with what I term as stealth marketing. Basically acting as a (professional) client I was able to write reviews in online industrial forums and document the installation of their product in my sailboat and made a small youtube video about my experience with their product. The video has reached 10,000 views so far and is growing fast. This type of exposure helped them have a more trusted brand and gave a different perspective to potential buyers that traditional marketing would not be able to fulfill.

Ford Diesel Van!

E350 Ford Diesel Van, stealth RV!

This next project is a little more complex. I will be living in a cargo van while going back to college at 40. After eight months living in expensive campus housing that is not conducive to supporting life. I jokingly said out of frustration “I’d be happier living out of a van”. Thus the journey begins. I’m currently shopping for a used ford E350 diesel extended cargo van that will be converted into a stealth mini RV that can be parked anywhere and will run on bio fuel blends. The best part is that no one will know I’m living in it. Except for those who run across my blog and catch my videos. Living in the van isn’t the only hook, returning to school at 40, for premed courses is an adventure all in it’s self and don’t forget the van will be a stealth RV, bio fueled, and solar cooled.

I’m completing my preliminary courses now and will begin my premed tract in the Spring of 09 at LSU. This will be an ongoing van adventure for two to four years. I will be living in the van while attending LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. However non academic time I will be traveling in the van to Orlando visiting my god daughter and scuba diving in Key West FL. I’ll also be heading west to Sedona AZ and Las Vegas visiting friends as well as camping at State Parks in and around the Baton Rouge, New Orleans area during week ends and reconnecting with old friends on Cape Cod.

This past year of living in campus apartment housing has taught me it is very important to recharge with nature and family whenever possible and to never, ever, ever stay on campus with a bunch of twenty year olds during Mardi Gras.

And yes I am currently seeking sponsors for the van project and the site.
